Deady Hall

Since the founding of the University of Oregon, there have been reports of hauntings in Deady Hall, the oldest building on campus. Strange happenings such as creepy noises, unexplained footsteps, and ghostly figures have been documented.

In 1876 Professor Thomas Condon found an incredibly well-preserved skeleton in the building’s basement. The body was later identified as A. Oakly Hall, a New York man who had been missing. To this day, no one knows what happened to Hall and why he ended up in Deady.

The paranormal experiences may also be attributed to William W. Piper, the building’s architect. After the building's completion, the university refused to pay Piper for his work designing Deady Hall. This led Piper to suffer extreme financial difficulties, and he committed suicide shortly after that.
